Lake Tillery is located in Stanley and Montgomery Counties, North Carolina. It spans 5,000 acres and has almost 120 miles of shoreline. It’s just 55 miles from Charlotte, North Carolina. It offers a beautiful backdrop of the Piedmont Mountains.

Fun on the Water

Lake Tillery is the ultimate destination for watersports. Skiing, canoeing, tubing, power boating, jet skis, and more are favorite pastimes while visiting. There are multiple marinas around the lake where you can rent, launch, and refuel watercraft. Plenty of public boats ramps are also dotted around the lake where you can launch your own boat.

Anglers also love Lake Tillery. The many creeks and outlets provide excellent fishing spots. Fish that can be found here include several bass and catfish species, bluegill, and shell cracker. Anglers can test their skills at the several fishing tournaments held at Lake Tillery. You can fish from boats, piers, and other shore fishing areas.

Situated between two parks, Morrow Mountain Parks and Uwharrie National Park, there is plenty of fun around Lake Tillery as well. The parks offer camping, hiking, picnicking, bike trails, and even dirt biking!

Around Town

When you get hungry while at Lake Tillery, try out River Wild Restaurant at Lilly's Bridge Marina. This lakeside restaurant offers great food with stunning lake views. Another lakeside restaurant here is The Boat House.

For golfers, there are two greens at Lake Tillery, Piney Point Golf Club, and Tillery Tradition Country Club, offering both public golf courses and exclusive membership perks.

If you’re looking for a big-city experience, Charlotte is just 55 miles away. There are numerous things to do here, including the NASCAR Hall of Fame, Belk Theater, and a handful of stadiums and arenas. Favorite Charlotte restaurants include Midwood Smokehouse, Viva Chicken, and Haberdish.
