Short Trip to Albany and Adirondack Mountain

Saratoga Lake is just 30 minutes south of Lake George and the Adirondack Mountains and 30 miles north of the state capital, Albany.

This body of water is located in Saratoga County, New York, one of the fastest-growing counties in Upstate New York.

The name "Saratoga" is derived from the native "Se-rach-ta-gue" meaning "hillside country of the great river."

The sport of rowing has a long history on the lake. Saratoga Lake has been known to host National Collegiate Rowing Races since the 1870s.

Freshwater Beauty

Saratoga Lake covers more than 4,028 acres, with a maximum depth of 95 feet and 23 miles of shoreline. Most of the lake's shoreline is privately owned, but there is public lake access at the northern end.

A large sandbar can be found in the middle of the lake on the western side, which has become a popular place to anchor boats, swim, and enjoy the pure beauty of the lake.

Saratoga Lake Protection and Improvement District manages the lake and ensures the lake stays in pristine condition.

Saratoga Lake Activities

Boaters can enjoy cruising the open water of the lake with water skiing, wakeboarding, jet skiing, and tubing.

Saratoga National Historic Park is located east of the lake. The park commemorates the site where the U.S. claimed its first victory in the battle of Saratoga during the American Revolution.

Ten minutes away, Saratoga Spa State Park covers more than 2,000-acres and offers a multitude of traditional recreational activities including mineral springs, spa, and nature trails.

Fun and Fishing

Saratoga Lake hosts many smallmouth and largemouth bass tournaments. Other popular fish include perch, carp, bluegill, crappie, sunfish, and walleye.
