This 10 acre parcel on Au Train Island is justifiably named Clearwater Coast. The gorgeous red and white designs of the Jacobsville Sandstone seen along the shoreline extend to the lake bottom for stunning views from this particular site. Being a northerly facing shoreline, the wave action keeps the red white colors on the lake bottom vibrant and distinct. The forest is old growth northern hardwoods and hemlock and there are frequent sightings of Bald Eagles, often more than one at a time. Au Train Island is located on Lake Superior in the central part of Michigan’s Upper Peninsula. With limited supply of Lake Superior frontage, the island is situated in a truly “superior” location. The closest point of mainland is about 1 mile from the island and the nearest public boat dock is approximately 2 1/2 miles. Pictured Rocks National Lake Shore, the city of Munising, Grand Island National Recreation Area and the city of Marquette are all less than 30 miles from the island. Both Munising and Marquette have protected harbors.
