Lake Michigan-Ludington Area is located on Lake Michigan at the mouth of the Pere Marquette River. Ludington is the largest city and county seat of Mason County. As of the 2010 census, the city population was 8,076.

There are two places to seek medical care around the Lake Michigan-Ludington Area. The first is Spectrum Health Ludington Hospital and the second is a medical clinic called Mercy Health Ludington.

The nearest airport to Ludington is Manistee (MBL) Airport which is 24.3 miles away. Other nearby airports include Traverse City, Grand Rapids, Milwaukee, and Appleton.

You’ll find miles of clean, sandy beaches along Lake Michigan just minutes from wherever you are in the area. Ludington is the home port of the largest car ferry to sail the Great Lakes. The S.S. Badger Carferry makes its voyage from Ludington to Manitowoc, Wisconsin mid-May to mid-October.

This 410′ ship carries up to 620 passengers and 180 vehicles. Onboard you can play Badger Bingo, watch a movie, shop, or enjoy a meal in one of their two restaurants. Kids' activities include a video arcade, coloring contests, and a playroom.

When you’re not visiting the beaches or cruising on the S.S Badger you can explore the gorgeous lighthouses, Ludington State Park, or experience some of the best fishing in the U.S. with species such as largemouth bass, walleye, yellow perch, chinook salmon, and so many more.
