Arbutus Lake is located in historic Grand Traverse County, about 12 miles from Traverse City. It is conveniently located within a two-hour drive from Grand Rapids or Midland.

395 Acres of Beautiful Water and Scenery

Arbutus Lake covers a surface area of 395 acres and reaches a maximum depth of 44 feet. It has several islands located all across the lake.

Arbutus Lake is well known for its swimming and fishing. Popular sport fish such as large and smallmouth bass, perch, and crappie inhabit its waters.

Arbutus Lake State Forest Campground offers a boat ramp and 30 campsites for lake visitors who purchase a recreation passport through the Michigan DNR before use.

Cheers and Cherries

In the summer, lake lovers can look forward to the National Cherry Festival. The festival is seven days long and begins at the end of June and stretches into July.

The event takes place in nearby Traverse City. Voted one of America's top ten food-specific festivals, this community celebration includes parades, the crowning of the Cherry Queen, an art competition, and much more for the whole family.
