Lake Antioch is a private lake located in Antioch Township in northeastern Illinois. Sitting just below the Wisconsin state border, Antioch Lake is 88 acres in size and is only one of many lakes in Lake County, Illinois.

Antioch Lake lies at the southern end of Antioch Village. This charming community retains its small-town feel while being close to all the services and conveniences of a major metropolitan area.

The shores of Lake Michigan are around 30 minutes from this peaceful lake. You can also enjoy a faster pace on the extensive Chain O'Lakes waterway system, which is less than 20 minutes from Lake Antioch.

Fun on Lake Antioch

Antioch Lake is undoubtedly one of the city's larger attractions. Because there is no public access to the lake, boat traffic is meager. This helps keep the lake's peaceful atmosphere intact for residents.

Rowing, paddle sports, fishing, and wildlife viewing are the most common activities on the lovely lake, but motorized boats are not allowed.

Fishing is permitted here to many anglers' excitement. Fish species found among Lake Antioch may include sunfish, bluegill, largemouth bass, walleye, crappie, muskie, northern pike, bullhead, catfish, yellow, and white bass.

Some residents and the Friends of Lake Antioch own private swimming beaches that can be accessed by members and guests.

The Chain O'Lakes Region and Nearby Shops

Nearby is the 840-acre Chain O'Lakes State Park. This park borders three of the Chain lakes and neighbors a 3,230-acre conservation area.

Trails for hiking and horseback riding cover the 2,450-acre park, which also offers overnight campgrounds. Hunting is permitted in the season for doves and waterfowl; there is an archery season for deer. Visitors can even have fun in the winter when there are ice fishing and cross-country skiing.

Due to the large size of the 7,000-acre Chain O'Lakes region, there is a plethora of shops, restaurants, vacation rentals, and attractions for the family to enjoy.
