Life on the Lake

Lake Oconee is known for its good fishing waters. Anglers frequently catch largemouth bass, white bass, striped bass, hybrid striped bass, crappie, and catfish. Fish in Lake Oconee can grow to massive sizes, with the record fish record being an almost 70-pound blue catfish.

People enjoy all types of boating on Lake Oconee, from kayaking and canoeing to motor boats and jet skis. There are plenty of boat rental services and boat ramps around Lake Oconee, so no matter where you are around the lake, you can get in the water.

You can also spend time in nearby Atlanta, where you can visit the World of Coca-Cola, Piedmont Park, and the Children’s Museum of Atlanta. Some of Atlanta’s best restaurants include Atlanta Breakfast Club, Aria, and Poor Calvin’s.
