About the Area

Wilson  Lake, located in the northeast corner of Alabama, covers close to  16,000 acres and has some 150 miles of mostly developed shoreline. The  Wilson Dam, which is named for President Woodrow Wilson, was the first  dam to be built on the Tennessee River. With the completion of Wilson  Lock, Alabama was able to call itself home to the highest single lift  lock east of the Rocky Mountains and one of highest in the world.

With  just about every water-related activity available for visitors to  participate in, Wilson Lake continues to an extremely popular spot  along the Tennessee River. Once holding the world record for the  largest smallmouth bass, Wilson Lake offers premier fishing  opportunities to anglers throughout the nation.

Also, just a short drive away,  one can tour the birthplace of Helen Keller.
