Rainy Lake fishing opener is HOT !!!!

Both the weather and the fishing created an awesome weekend.  One of my best friends Bobby, whom I call the " Solo Sailor, "  manned the helm on Saturday and had my two boys and I onboard for the opener.  We caught fish here and there all day long.  All of the walleyes were shallow and hit the bait like a freight train. Later in the day we crossed trails with some friends that were having the same experience fishing, but also had the luxury of  cruising and lodging on one of the Rainy Lake Houseboats.   Having a shorelunch over an open fire, brought back many memories I had of my houseboat trips throughout the years.  One of my best trips on a Rainy Lake Houseboat was our wedding.  We had several houseboats and lots of guests when Cheryl and I got married in Brule Narrows on Rainy Lake. A week long honeymoon followed.  We had all the comforts of home and changed our scenery everyday.  There's nothing like being in the most beautiful wilderness you have ever seen and having all the amenities you need onboard, including a hot tub on the upper deck!  Anyway, our day finally came to a close with a sunset ride back to mainland, happy kids worn out from a delightful day with Dad, good friends and lots of settin' the hook!
