
Allatoona Lake (or Lake Allatoona to most) is located just 30 miles northwest of Atlanta and is one of the most visited Corps of Engineers lakes in the United States. This lake lies within the counties of Cherokee, Bartow, and Cobb and is mostly supplied by the Etowah River, which eventually feeds into the Coosa River. With more than six million annual visitors, there is obviously something that draws these visitors to Allatoona Lake.
Spanning some 12,000 acres with 270 miles of shoreline, Allatoona Lake provides numerous activities for the entire family. The historical Allatoona Pass, where some 1500 Confederate and Union soldiers lost their lives in a battle during the Civil War, attracts many tourists as well.
