Sylvia Lake

Sylvia Lake is a quaint, clear freshwater lake in Fowler, New York. It is preserved and protected by the Sylvia Lake Association.

Watertown is under 45 minutes away, and Syracuse is under 135 miles away.

The lake is 16 minutes from Gouverneur Hospital and an hour from Watertown International Airport. It is within 20 minutes of grocery stores like Price Chopper and Save A Lot.

There are several unique dining opportunities in Gouverneur including Route 11 Diner, Mullins Family Restaurant, New York Pizzeria, and Casablanca.

Sylvia Lake Association

The association hosts many events and offers several amenities. In the summer, they throw a popular kickoff party, concert, and community picnic. They’ve also been known to have boat parades, regatta trophies, and Ice Out mugs. Association dues pay for lake management.

On the Lake Fun

Smallmouth bass, largemouth bass, and rainbow trout are abundant on the lake and can be lured in the areas around the shoreline. There is a boat launch on the southeast side of the lake, perfect for exploring the water.

Watertown has a few activities to enjoy. One option is the Sci-Tech Museum, a playful children's museum offering hands-on educational displays on technology and science.
