About Cranberry Lake

An Outdoor Enthusiasts Dream

You are sure to find the best views of the Adirondacks at Cranberry Lake. It is a relatively large lake, covering 6,975 acres in size with 55 miles of shoreline.

The majority of the shoreline is made up of flourishing woodlands and natural scenery. A majority of the lake is located in Clifton, while other lake areas are situated in Piercefield and Fine.

The lake initially got its name for the extensive cranberry bogs that it once contained.

Surrounded by Forests

While boating, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and other water sports can be enjoyed on Cranberry Lake, the lake's real beauty is its surrounding wilderness.

The Cranberry Lake Wild Forests encompasses 25,671 acres on the eastern shore of this peaceful water body. The forest contains 6.2 miles of roads, 26.9 miles of foot trails, 9.3 miles of snowmobile trails, and 12.6 miles of ski trails. There are primitive camping sites, hunting/trapping areas, and a fire tower on the summit of Mt. Arab for visitors to enjoy.

Five Ponds Wilderness, William C. Whitney Wilderness, High Peaks Wilderness, Independence River Wild Forest, and Sargent Pond Wild Forest are all nearby if you want a new piece of the wild to explore.
