Sugar Lake is located in Torrey Township, Minnesota. Grand Rapids is 20 miles northeast, and Duluth is 100 miles east.

A few smaller airfields are nearby, but the closest major airport is Duluth International Airport, two hours away. Urgent care can be provided at Grand Itasca Clinic and Hospital, 28 minutes away.
